Ojai Community Bank and Rotary Club of Ojai Help Kids Start Saving Early at Ojai Day

Ojai Community Bank was sending the message out to kids loud and clear at Ojai Day. SAVE YOUR MONEY. Even the pennies add up, all the way to $100!
Balloons of all colors marked the way to the booth where kids could take a guess at how much money were in the three Rotary piggy banks. Ojai Community Bank sponsored a booth to support the Rotary’s new Ojai Youth Connect program, a new website and forum series to connect all of the Valley’s youth organizations. Rotary provided the ceramic pigs and Ojai Community Bank supplied the various dollars and cents to fill them.
The three pigs held $19, $33 and $48 each, adding up to $100 total. Kids came by and shook the banks, peeked in the money slot and looked to the clouds for inspiration on how to divine the closest guess.
Nate Henson collected the $33 and Ally has yet to come claim her $19. The big winner of the day was Connor Ames, a 7th grader at Montessori School. Connor came in the Ojai Community Bank branch Tuesday eager to claim his fortune. The teller asked Connor, “Do you have an account here Sir?” “Yes”, replied Connor and proudly walked out the door with every cent. Saving is a tough concept at age 12.
