Ojai Community Bank Hosts 10th Annual CPA Forum

Ojai Community Bank was proud to host the 10th Annual CPA Forum on May 23rd. The luncheon, organized since 1997 by George Tabata, was held at the Ventura Beach Marriott and was attended by more than 40 Ventura County CPAs.

George Tabata, Vice President and a Commercial Lending Officer for Ojai Community Bank welcomed the guests and introduced Dave Brubaker, the bank’s President and CEO. Mr. Brubaker, a long time Ventura County banker talked about the bank’s philosophy of local banking and personal service. He explained that this attention to each customer’s needs applies to even those offices that are too far from a branch to make a deposit at lunch. He offered the Bank’s Remote Capture Deposit program which provides a small scanner that sits on your desk and links to your internet. Your funds are available sooner without the drive to the branch and you can submit deposits up to 7:30 p.m. PST for same day processing.

George Tabata then introduced the guest speaker Philip G. Panitz, a Tax Partner of Panitz & Kossoff, LLP, a certified tax specialist and a tax litigation attorney. Mr. Panitz updated the CPA audience on recent changes in accounting and tax law, including specifics on executive compensation and an IRS audit sweep on real estate investors and property managers. The Marriott served a delicious lunch and the afternoon was informative and pleasant for all.
